| We were asked to do a segment on the Carol
Duvall show using crackle on paper. We tested many brands and
discovered one that is easy to use, and provides predictable
and consistent results. Stamp your image using Ancient Page ink and
apply color using your favorite color pencils or paint your background
using Iridescent Accents. It is important that inks become
permanent and are sufficiently dry when you apply the Primer Undercoat.
Because of the multiple layers, I find working on a watercolor paper or
very thick cardstock is best. Shake well and using a very
soft-haired brush, apply evenly over your art. It will be cloudy. Clean
your brush with water. A stiff brush or foam brush will not work
as well as a soft-haired brush. Allow the paper to dry completely
so there are no cloudy areas. This undercoat will be slightly tacky when
dry. I usually allow it to dry overnight. Apply Fracture Topcoat solution with a soft brush. Allow your paper to dry until clear. Hold the dry paper up to a light source to see the cracks. To make the cracks show up, you can apply Metallic Rub-Ons over the top and into the cracks. While still wet, use a soft tissue and rub in a circular motion, to remove the excess. Or, because the Undercoat remains tacky in the cracks you can apply dry paint pigment for a wonderful metallic look. Because, Old World Art's Fracture Glaze has its own sealer, it has a beautiful gloss finish.
